The entire Zalco Aluminium Factory was taken over together with the stock exchange listed Century Aluminium from the United States in early 2012. Zalco Aluminium is one of the leading European companies in the field of primary aluminium and annually produces almost 300.000 tons. The company employed an average of 700 people. Zalco also produces 100.000 tons of anodes every year. The Foundry and Anode Factory will be continued. The Smelter did not prove viable and this section has been dismantled by the UTB Industry partner.
